Bittime Examines AI Business Fundamentals Amidst Anthropic’s IPO Plans
2026-11-05
Jakarta, 4 November 2026 – Developments in artificial intelligence (AI) companies are attracting increasing attention from global markets.
The planned IPO of Anthropic, the developer of Claude AI, is one of the latest developments highlighting strong investor interest in AI-based businesses.
However, the growth of the AI industry brings more than just opportunities. Alongside rising revenue and technology adoption, AI companies must also contend with substantial capital requirements, computing infrastructure costs, competition, and the challenge of achieving profitability.
Therefore, developments at companies such as Anthropic offer investors an opportunity to understand how the outlook for AI businesses is assessed, particularly as expectations for technological growth intersect with long-term investment requirements.
Bittime Chief Operating Officer Ryan Lymn believes that developments in AI companies demonstrate how technological innovation is becoming increasingly intertwined with changes in the global investment landscape.
"AI has evolved from a technological innovation into one of the key drivers of business and economic transformation. Developments at companies such as Anthropic demonstrate how demand for AI technology can create new growth opportunities while drawing investor attention to the sector," Ryan said.
Evaluating AI Companies Requires More Than Looking at Revenue Growth
One notable aspect of Anthropic's development is its business growth. According to a Reuters report dated 2 November 2026, the company recorded revenue of US$16.96 billion in the third quarter of 2026, an increase of 47% compared with the previous quarter.
This figure reflects strong demand for AI services, particularly as companies and various industry sectors begin integrating artificial intelligence into their business operations.
Nevertheless, revenue growth alone is not enough to provide a complete picture of a company's financial condition. Investors also need to consider its cost structure, capital requirements, cash flow, and ability to sustain growth over the long term.
In Anthropic's case, its infrastructure investment requirements are one aspect worth examining.
Reuters reported that the company has approximately US$895.4 billion in computing infrastructure spending commitments with partners, including Amazon and Google. Nearly half of these commitments are expected to be realized before the end of 2030.
Meanwhile, Anthropic recorded an operating loss of US$567 million in the third quarter of 2026. This illustrates how expanding an AI business requires substantial resources, even when revenue is growing.
Investors can consider several indicators when evaluating AI companies:
- Revenue growth: Is the increase in sales supported by sustainable demand?
- Profitability: How effectively can the company control costs and reduce losses?
- Capital expenditure: Are infrastructure investments proportionate to the potential revenue they generate?
- Competition: How well is the company positioned to compete and adapt to technological changes?
- Valuation: Are growth expectations reasonably reflected in the company's valuation?
Ryan added that investors need to look beyond the popularity of the technology when assessing the outlook for AI businesses.
"The potential of the AI industry is indeed substantial, but investors still need to assess how companies turn innovation into sustainable revenue. Factors such as profitability, capital expenditure requirements, competition, and the ability to develop a viable business model are important considerations when evaluating a company's prospects, rather than simply following trends or valuation expectations," Ryan explained.
Stock Tokenization Offers an Alternative for Digital Exposure to Global Assets
Beyond developments in AI companies, changes in the financial industry are also creating new ways to gain exposure to global assets.
One such approach is asset tokenization, the process of representing specific assets or financial instruments as digital tokens using blockchain technology.
In the stock market context, tokenized stocks allow users to gain digital exposure to shares or instruments whose value is linked to specific stocks.
However, the product structure, token holder rights, redemption mechanisms, and associated risks may differ from those involved in owning shares through conventional capital markets.
Developments in tokenization are also beginning to be explored within Indonesia's financial industry.
According to the Financial Services Authority (OJK) report on the September 2026 Monthly Meeting of the Board of Commissioners, seven Regulatory Sandbox participants had completed testing and met the applicable requirements as of September 2026.
The business models tested included gold tokenization, securities tokenization through the Fund Management Contract (KPD) scheme, tokenization of property ownership benefits, Rupiah stablecoin issuance, non-trading digital financial asset custody, and crypto fund management.
These test results demonstrate the increasingly diverse ways blockchain technology is being explored for financial services.
Nevertheless, completing Regulatory Sandbox testing does not automatically mean that all related business models or products have received authorization to operate commercially. The status and requirements of each product still need to be verified.
Bittime Expands Digital Access to US Company Stocks
In line with developments in global digital assets, Bittime offers its Tokenized US Stocks product as an alternative for Indonesians seeking digital exposure to selected stocks of US companies.
Through its 3-in-1 ecosystem, which includes Spot, Staking, and Futures, Bittime continues to expand the range of digital asset products available to its users.
As a Digital Financial Asset Trader (PAKD) registered with and supervised by the Financial Services Authority (OJK), Bittime also encourages users to understand the characteristics and risks of each instrument.
Ryan said tokenization could be one of the developments broadening digital access to global assets. However, understanding the product structure remains essential before users make any decisions.
"Through Tokenized US Stocks, Bittime aims to provide Indonesians with an alternative way to gain digital access to selected stocks of US companies. We see developments in the technology sector, including AI and its supporting infrastructure, as global trends worth following. However, it is important for investors to understand that tokenized stocks may have mechanisms, asset structures, and risks that differ from conventional share ownership," Ryan concluded.
Bittime urges the public not to focus solely on popular companies or sectors, but also to study business fundamentals, market conditions, and the characteristics of the chosen instruments.
For tokenized stock products in particular, prospective users should read the product terms and conditions to understand the rights attached to the tokens, transaction mechanisms, and potential risks.
Digital financial asset investments carry risks, including significant price fluctuations. Therefore, investment decisions should be aligned with each user's risk profile and level of understanding.
With greater literacy and understanding of digital financial innovations, the public is expected to be better equipped to evaluate various alternatives for accessing global investment opportunities.
