MicroStrategy Announces Purchase of 11,000 Bitcoins

The value of this Bitcoin purchase reached $1.1 billion (around Rp. 17.82 trillion), making this software company one of the largest Bitcoin holders in the world.

This step further strengthens the company's belief in Bitcoin's potential as a long-term digital asset, even though the crypto market often experiences volatility.

With this addition, MicroStrategy's total Bitcoin holdings now stand at 461,000 BTC. The total value of these assets is estimated at $29.3 billion (around Rp. 474.66 trillion). 

Based on data disclosed by the company to the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the average cost of acquiring Bitcoin in their portfolio is $63,610 (around Rp. 1.03 billion) per coin.

Michael Saylor, who has been known as a major supporter of Bitcoin, emphasized that this purchase was part of the company's strategy to exploit the long-term potential of this digital asset. 

"The future looks bright," Saylor wrote in his post, while showing off a photo of himself with a number of figures on Capitol Hill, such as Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Jared Kushner.

This massive purchase occurred amidst heated discussions around crypto regulation in the United States. President Donald Trump, who is known to support the development of the digital asset industry, previously expressed his commitment to creating more crypto-friendly policies.

“From now on, the rules will be written by those who love this industry, not by those who hate it,” Trump said at a Bitcoin conference in 2024.

However, the crypto community was disappointed because there was no specific mention of blockchain or digital assets in the official White House briefing on January 20. Trump focuses more on the issue of immigration and government efficiency.

Jake Chervinsky, Chief Legal Officer of Variant Fund, thinks that a crypto-related executive order may be coming soon. However, its direct impact on regulation in the United States is expected to be limited.
