SiPongi data from the Ministry of Forestry shows that there were 946 high-confidence hotspots nationwide as of August 30, 2026. 

A total of 455 points were in West Kalimantan and 308 points in Central Kalimantan, although the national number decreased by 629 points compared to the previous day.

The Ministry of Forestry emphasized that hotspots indicate heat anomalies, not automatic evidence of a fire. 

As of that period, there were 93 reports of forest and land fires in 12 provinces, with 60 locations still under investigation.

Air quality in several areas also moved from moderate to hazardous categories. 

In East Kalimantan, BNPB recorded fires covering around 12 hectares in Samarinda and 27 hectares in Kutai Kartanegara at the end of August.

The strengthening of plantation issuers on September 2, 2026, occurred after the November delivery CPO contract on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives rose 1.61 percent to 4,973 Malaysian ringgit per ton.

The price has strengthened for two consecutive trading sessions. 

The catalysts came from rising soybean oil prices in Chicago and Dalian, strengthening olein contracts in China, and expensive crude oil.

As energy prices rise, CPO becomes more competitive as a biodiesel feedstock.

This could boost demand expectations, even though Malaysian palm oil exports are expected to fall 14.9 percent month-on-month in August.

Therefore, the narrative that fires directly caused plantation stocks to strengthen is an oversimplification.

SSMS Shares Jump, TAPG Strengthens in Longer Trend

On trading on September 2 at 09.35 WIB,SSMS shares strengthened 10.22 percent to Rp. 1,025.

The increase was behind BWPT, which jumped 13.76 percent, while GZCO, JARR, LSIP, and a number of other plantation issuers also moved positively.

Previously, trade data up to August 21 showed that SSMS had risen 5.11 percent to Rp925.

SSMS operates plantations in Central Kalimantan, so the market needs to pay close attention to the proximity of its operational areas to fire hotspots, production continuity, and company information disclosure. 

Meanwhile, TAPG shares were able to strengthen 9.50 percent to Rp1,960 in the same period.

TradingView data as of September 2 shows TAPG at Rp2,300; despite a 3 percent daily correction, its performance still grew 15.90 percent in the week and 29.14 percent in the month.

TAPG also uses satellite monitoring, drones, watchtowers, special teams, and a no-burning policy to anticipate forest and land fires.

The company stated that it did not find any hotspots in the 6,800-hectare Jambi plantation area throughout 2026.
