XRP ETF Latest Info: SEC Begins Review Process!

XRP ETF: SEC Review Process Stages

The SEC has a specific mechanism for evaluating XRP ETF proposals under rule 19b-4. Once published in the Federal Register, the SEC has 45 days to make a preliminary decision or extend the review period. 

If extended, the review may last up to 90 days. SEC You can also add additional periods, namely 45 days and 60 more days, so that the final decision deadline could fall on October 18 2025. 

During this period, the SEC will collect public comments, analyze market impacts, and evaluate regulatory compliance before making a final decision.

Although a decision can be rendered at any time during the period, the SEC generally utilizes all available time before announcing final results.

SEC's Changing Stance on XRP ETFs

Grayscale's XRP ETF proposal was filed through NYSE Arca and plans to list Grayscale XRP Trust shares under rule 8.201-E, which regulates commodity-based trusts. 

Previously, the SEC had given the green light to Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs, indicating a shift in acceptance of crypto-based investment products.

In addition, changes in leadership at the SEC also occurred influence optimism towards XRP ETF approval. The change from previous SEC Chair, Gary Gensler, to a new leader who is friendlier to the crypto industry has had a major impact. 

The SEC is also known to delay or even stop several lawsuits against crypto companies, which adds to hopes that the SEC vs Ripple legal case may also end well.
