The increase in demand also occurred on Ozon, Wildberries' competitor platform. Ozon experienced an increase in units sold and revenue of 33% for the massage equipment category in the June-July 2024 period compared to the same period in 2023.

This unique trend appears to have been sparked by viral videos circulating on Russian social media, such as VK and open chat rooms on applications such as Telegram. The video shows Russian players using massage tools to "mine" coins in Hamster Kombat.
