Aave Could Rise 50x to $3,500 by 2030, Says Standard Chartered
2026-06-25
Standard Chartered predicts Aave could surge 50-fold to $3,500 by 2030, a target that would see it surpass Bitcoin and Ethereum within the decade.
Geoff Kendrick, the bank's head of digital asset research, based his projections on the rise of DeFi and the explosion of real-world asset (RWA) tokenization, which is predicted to grow 37-fold to $2.7 trillion.
Although Aave was hit by a cyber incident in April that reduced deposits from $30 billion to $12 billion, the protocol has begun to recover with USDT deposits returning and Aave Horizon opening its doors to institutions.
Additional catalysts such as potential token buybacks and institutional adoption through permissioned RWA markets are key drivers of this bullish case.
Key Points
Standard Chartered predicts Aave will reach $3,500 by 2030, a 50x increase from its current price (~$70). This target is well above Aave's all-time high of $662 (May 2021).
Key assumption: active assets in DeFi will grow 37x from now, from around $75 billion to $2.7 trillion by 2030.
Catalysts: post-April incident deposit recovery, Aave Horizon for institutional RWA, and potential Aave token buyback.

Standard Chartered: Aave Can Go 50x to $3,500

Geoff Kendrick, Standard Chartered's global head of digital asset research, initiated coverage of Aave with a price target of $3,500 by the end of 2030, a nearly 50x upside from its current price of around $70.
This target would make AAVE outperform Bitcoin and Ethereum over the same period.
Kendrick describes Aave as an “on-chain bank” that operates without staff or downtime.
At its peak in October 2025, Aave held approximately $75 billion in deposits, a figure that would place it among the 30 largest banks in the US.
This $3,500 target is well above Aave's record price of around $662 reached in May 2021. To reach this target, Aave would need to rise more than 5x from its ATH.

Big Assumptions: DeFi Revival and RWA Tokenization
This prediction hinges on one big assumption: tokenized finance will move on-chain en masse.
Standard Chartered estimates that active assets in DeFi will surge 37x this decade, from around $75 billion to $2.7 trillion by 2030.
Kendrick explains:
"We estimate the value of tokenized assets active in DeFi will increase 37x between now and the end of 2030, driving more deposits to the platform."
Aave will be a major beneficiary as its revenue model is closely tied to lending and deposit activities.
The bank expects the growth of this protocol to directly translate into profits for the AAVE token.
This logic also supports similar Uniswap projections as well as Ethereum's 2030 target of $40,000.

Recovery After the April Incident
Aave was hit by a cyber incident in April 2026.
Attackers associated with the group North Korea's Lazarus siphoned off about $292 million from KelpDAO through the exploitation of cross-chain bridges.
The attackers used stolen rsETH tokens as collateral on Aave, triggering potential losses of up to $230 million and panic withdrawals.
Aave deposits have fallen from a peak of over $30 billion in 2025 to around $12 billion today. But Kendrick believes the worst is over.
"We believe Aave has moved past the April cyber theft incident as assets are starting to return to the platform," he said.
USDT deposits in Aave's core Ethereum market are approaching $3 billion and starting to flow back in, according to Aave founder Stani Kulechov.

Aave Horizon and RWA Institutional
Aave's current growth is focused on real-world assets (RWA).
Through a permissioned RWA marketplace called Aave Horizon, the protocol allows select institutions to pledge tokenized assets as collateral and borrow stablecoins.
Early backers include asset managers such as VanEck and WisdomTree.
The latest addition is mGLOBAL, a Midas token that follows Fasanara Capital's private credit strategy (fund >$6 billion). On its first day, $17.1 million was invested in the token.
Stani Kulechov, founder of Aave, asserts: “RWA is the biggest opportunity for Aave.”
Aave V4, which is designed to aggregate liquidity, has recorded total deposits of over $200 million in three months, according to Grayscale.

The Catalyst: Buyback Program Aave
The Standard Chartered report also points to the potential resumption of Aave's token buyback program as an additional catalyst.
Buybacks will reduce the circulating supply and put buying pressure on prices.
But this is still uncertain.
Kendrick attributes much of the opportunity to two factors: the resumption of buyback programs and closer ties with traditional finance.
Both are uncertain, and tighter regulations could slow institutional adoption.

Conclusion
Standard Chartered predicts Aave will rise 50x to $3,500 by 2030. This target is driven by the DeFi revival (active assets up 37x), RWA tokenization, deposit recovery after the April incident, and potential buybacks.
However, this prediction depends on massive institutional adoption and supportive regulations.
Aave is currently at $70, still a long way from $3,500.
This is a very bullish long-term prediction, not a certainty.
